Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone

Here is another example of Milt Kahl's animation for another character. This time, his subject is a human rather than an animal. These are two single frames of his action, drawn in pencil. The character appears cartoonish because of her exaggerated features, like her spindly arms attached to her plump frame, her bulbous nose, and the eyes that take up a large portion of her face. She is not a 'traditionally' beautiful woman, as we can see by her coarse untamed hair, her figure, and lack of a slender neck and defined cheeks.
