Characters looking into camera = truthfulness

'When tellers look people in the eye when they are speaking to them, Euro–North Americans perceive honesty and sincerity in their content. Thus as Michael Roemer (21) describes, when a film character directly faces the camera, audiences will understand truthfulness' - Greenhill and Kohm, 2013
