I stumbled across this piece of Naruto fan art the other day while browsing Tumblr, and it immediately caught my eye. It is a digital painting by an animation student/ character designer called Krystal Pham (source: krys-arts.tumblr.com/post). I absolutely love the way she has characterised the female subject. It's a gorgeous mix between manga and Disney style. She looks traditionally eastern Asian, because of her glossy, straight hair with a rigid fringe, and the sharp angle of her eyes. Her face is rounded and has a cute button nose, with little shading or intricate detail. I could honestly see this acting as a source picture which I can work from to design the crane's human form. She looks perfectly pretty and innocent, but striking at the same time.
